The Port of Barranquilla provides a space for Academic Institutions where students have the opportunity to know in more detail the operations and processes carried out inside the terminal.
These visits and the joint action between the institutions and the Port of Barranquilla complement the students’ classroom activities, thus contributing to their professional and work training.

WHAT IS THE ACADEMIC
VISIT PROGRAM ABOUT?
The visit consists of an inside tour in a vehicle through the facilities of the port terminal, where students have the opportunity to know the operational and logistics processes carried out at the Port.
During this guided tour, attendees will receive information on the history of the Port of Barranquilla, port operations of the multipurpose terminal, investment plans, navigability of the Magdalena River and Barranquilla as a port city, among others.
Dates and Times
Academic visits to the Port of Barranquilla are only held on Wednesdays and Thursdays, at two available times: 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Each visit lasts approximately one and a half hours.
TYPES OF VISITORS
Students pursuing careers related to the port sector who are close to graduation or to doing a professional internship.
Professionals studying postgraduate courses, short courses and/or seminars related to the sector.
REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITIONS
All academic visit applications must be submitted through our website, scheduling any available date in the calendar provided.
All institution must consult the available dates and fill in the required information.
Academic visit applications can only be scheduled with at least 10 days in advance, and are subject to appointment availability, considering the amount of applications received on a daily basis.
For the application and formalization of a visit, the required information must be completely submitted, as well as the full list of visitors with their ID numbers.
A maximum of 40 visitors are allowed per visit in a single bus or vehicle. The vehicle making the inside tour must be the same vehicle used for the transfer to the Port (hired by the Educational Institution).
In cases where groups exceed 25 people, there must necessarily be two professors in charge.
Once the visit application is registered through our website, the Communications Department of the Port of Barranquilla will contact the Institution within the next 4 business days of the application date.
Once the date is scheduled, the applicant can cancel the visit with 10 days in advance. Should the Institution fail to attend and cancel in advance, it will not be able to apply for another academic visit to the Port in the next three months.
Educational Institutions can only schedule one visit per month so all local and national institutions applying on a daily basis can have the same opportunities.
INDUSTRIAL SAFETY STANDARD
Visitors must come in the same vehicle (car, van, bus, etc.), and everyone must be seated.
Access will be denied to people with open wounds, hangovers, in a drunken state or under the influence of any type of hallucinogenic substances.
The entry of alcohol and weapons to our facilities is prohibited. In case these items are found, they will be confiscated and will only be returned upon departure.
Smoking is not allowed anywhere in the Port of Barranquilla.
Vehicles entering the facilities should not exceed 30 km/h and must park in reverse in authorized parking areas.
Access to the Port Facilities will only be allowed to the people listed in the visit application previously submitted to the Port’s Communications Department.
Walking or circulating through dock areas, container storage yards and operation areas is prohibited.
Failure to comply with the above requirements may result in the cancellation of the visit.
If you come across equipment from our operation while driving, you must stop and wait for the equipment operator to give you the way or indicate that you can move forward safely.
To be granted access, visitors must wear long pants, fully enclosed shoes and long-sleeve shirt.
All visitors authorized to enter the Port must carry a photo ID.
It is forbidden to take photographs or videos in operating areas, except with special authorization of Communications department.
